Are You Looking For Jobs Abroad?
Applying for jobs abroad? How do you land your dream job? How do you stand out from the crowd? How do you persuade employers that you are the ideal candidate for them? Applying for jobs in another country can be a tedious process, but you must understand how to position yourself so that it can be less strenuous for you.
To assist you, highlighted are some of the things that need to be done to assist you in finding the job you are looking for.
Decide the Type of Job You Are Looking For
Before you start applying for any job, make sure you decide on the position, the industry, and the type of job you will like to obtain. Once you have done that, start your search. There are two ways that are most popular to apply for jobs, whether locally or abroad, and that is to apply directly to the company or through a recruitment agency.
Update your CV
Your CV is a summary of your qualifications and employment history. Make sure to update the CV by writing a CV that reflects your present experience and shows a clear and precise objective. Remove any information on the CV that is outdated and focus on your achievements.
Cover Letter
What is a cover letter? A cover letter is a written summary of your skills and experience. Make sure that the first sentence is captivating because it takes the person shortlisted a few seconds on your cover letter to determine whether or not they should bother to read your CV. For example:
- Address the letter to a specific person.
- State exactly the purpose of your letter.
- Don’t repeat your entire CV.
- Be consistent in your formatting; use the same font and formatting as you did for your CV; and keep your letter to just one page.
- Refrain from overusing “1,” but instead use words that demonstrate your skills and accomplishments.
- Restate your interest and thank the reader.
Decide On the Country
These days, with technology, it is much easier to find job opportunities as a qualified international candidate. Decide on the country you want to work in and start the process by uploading your CV to job boards or, if applicable, registering for job alerts directly on the employer’s website.
Once you have prepared your CV and your cover letter, get someone to proofread them for you to make sure that there are no mistakes before sending out your application.
Find a Job You're Interested In
Once you have decided on the job you are interested in and the country that you would like to work in, the next step is your international search, which could be through recruitment agencies or directly with the company.
Should you Apply Directly To Companies?
When you are applying for a job, whether locally or internationally, you should apply directly to the company through their website or find a trusted recruitment agency that can help you fast-track your search.
The first thing to do is to outline the position you are looking for, the salary you are willing to accept, the level, and the kind of organisation you are willing to work with. After that, get started. Go to the companies that you will like to work at and search their job portal to see if anything is interesting.
Sign Up With a Recruitment Agency
The second option is to use a recruitment agency. The advantage of using a recruitment agency is that they know the market well and may probably have a client lined up who is looking for a candidate with your skillset.
Not only that, they are skilled at what they do; they know what employers are looking for and have the experience to match you with the right job. Recruitment agencies will also coach you on the skills needed by employers and prepare you adequately for job interviews at no cost to you.
It is much easier for recruitment agencies, which have so many years of experience matching candidates with the right jobs and employers, to do the job for you. Recruitment agencies will tell you outright if they can help you or not. They can also advise you on what to do in order to better equip yourself with the skills needed by employers.
Apply Directly To the Companies
If you prefer to apply directly to the companies, then register with a job board and sign up for their job alerts, specifying what you are looking for. You can also register on the company’s website and apply directly. All you need to do is familiarise yourself with how to apply for jobs online, the processes of interviewing online, and make sure that you learn how to use the tools needed for online interviews, such as Skype, Zoom, Google Meetings, etc.
Research the Companies and Prepare
Bear in mind that, when you are interviewing for a job online, you need to present yourself the same way you would if you were going for a face-to-face interview. Make sure that you research the company you are applying to. It will look unprofessional and incompetent if you do not know as much as you should about the company you have applied to.
When you do your research on the company, it shows that you are really interested in the job. Hypothetically speaking, if there are two skilled candidates who have what the employer is looking for one has done their homework and the other is speculative who do you think gives you a higher chance of getting the job? Subil Jobs offers advice to help you get started.
First impressions count; make sure you read up and prepare yourself for interviews, should you be lucky enough to get one. When interviewing, dress exactly as if you are going for an interview in an office. Impress the employer so that they can take that chance on you. Because no employer will like to incur the expense of bringing you over if they can find an equally better candidate locally.
Be relentless, because when you persevere, you will succeed
